    gobblers already gobbling

the only other issue of an earlier season is with the NF - a majority of prime turkey hunting roads are CLOSED due to seasonal /winter weather conditions and are not due open till second week of april - heaven forbid - hunters having to walk / hike to hunt it would have to be an area/unit not affected by rd access and thus presenting further complications ! so enjoy hunting single toms - if and when you find them some will - most will not

    gobblers already gobbling

this is nothing new - Our hunting season is designed by G&F to be as late as possible so all the hens are breed before hunters are allowed in the field to hunt, guess they figure there won't be enough toms around if hunters hunt during this time of yr. they will even tell you this - I asked !! By the time we actually get to go hunting , the hens are mostly nesting already . That's why you are seeing and hearing all the goobles now - some of other states start NOW mid march. most by first week of april. by May most of all the action is done - but guess what, that's when my season starts !

    Snowmobiler Shoots Moose

charge him -- the dumbA could have used the pistol to fire a few shots in the air instead of clapping hands and yelling- the moose would have hightailed it- when he advanced on the moose its all his fault !! a possiblity that the moose had probably been harassed by snowmobilers in the past and said enough is enough - lol

    javelina bckstraps

YUMMMMMM YUMMMMM for those who do not like javelina - guess you do not know how to take care of the meat from the field to the table oven cooked with fresh veggies - you don't know what your missing!
  8. 308NUT - elk tag cheaper than beef- maybe if you are lucky enough to harvest an animal but there is no guarantee sit down and figure out expenses for license tags rifle ammo camo camping gas food and missing work and i'll bet its cheaper to buy a beef - at least that way you are guaranteed a freezer full of meat. maybe a few yrs ago when you could actually go see elk when you were hunting but even that's not a guarantee anymore

    feral hog in az

we can only thank god we have the sunny / hot weather that will not allow these pests to expand- they love cool / damp places you'll most likely find them in a yr round stream or river game and fish has maps/ information etc that show places they have established populations and historical data there are a couple of private ranchs in the state that do have feral hogs that can be hunted for a fee. areas around these ranches often have a few wild ones that got out - its happens 90% of hunters across this state will never see a wild feral hog - I say we are dang lucky they don't! heck I have a hard enough time trying to find a dang coyote while I'm out hunting and we know they are everywhere

    Help with unit selection

may sound like a broken record but elk #'s are way down - G&F has systematically killed off 10's of thousands of cows over the last 10 yrs . the big herds are basically gone forever take unit 10 ---7-8 yrs of 1600 +cow tags and agin this yr they have reduced the herds to nothing - hunters are seeing less elk than ever . good luck - try unit 10 bashing time - one hunters opinion I use to watch several herds - 20-30 elk or more feeding into the meadows every evening they came out on the distant hillsides - last yr I spent 5 days and didn't see any herds elk but one or 2 little bunchs of 5-6

    Taxidermy Nightmare!

I'm sure it doesn't make one feel real safe dropping your animals off - not knowing the what if. Sad when one or even a couple of these - "so called" people - cheat customers out of not only the money but the mounts- it kinda ruins the whole memory. Anyone who thinks this taxidermy business is easy should just get the job of fleshing out the head/ hides - take your next kill and try it -I'm sure someone skilled can get it done" RIGHT" in a couple hrs . if care and deatail isn't takin in every step of the process - you'll know! these guys spend a lot of time and effert to recreate something YOU can be proud of and cherish. MY hat is off to all the taxidermist who give the quality mounts I see coming from around our state. KUDO"S to all those guys to the guys whom screwed a lot of people - know they'll get it in the end -- guys moved out of our great state or their reputation is gone forever- you deserve as you give!

134 Yard Archery Shot on 6x6

kinda like the guy I talked to a few yrs back - antelope hunting yep he finally stuck his loper after 26 shots -- all his shots were at 85 yrds ++ guess practice makes perfect and then he hit it in the hind quarters and had to take a finishing shot when he could actually get within 35 yrds - go figure +1000 on not smart to take a shot at those distances when its very possible the target will move I like extra butter on my popcorn
