Lightweight (ultra light) Rifle Suggestions
AzDiamondHeat replied to Curtis Reed's topic in The Campfire
I have the tikka in a 25. You won't be disappointed(other than the hollow plastic stock which is easily solvable). Love my tikka Did you ever mention what caliber? We now have to assume it is a creedmore because you never said it out loud... -

How light is light for you? What is your budget? I went through this same process a little while back and ended up with a kimber mountain ascent. That thing is STUPID LIGHT. I needed to cut weight for high country hunts that were killing me. I ama sissy when it comes to hiking. I went from a tikka t3 and an 8lb pack to 3.5 lb pack and my kimber. Cut about 7lbs from my carry. Others that I considered are the Barret Fieldcraft, Bergara mountain 2.0 and the montana rifle company, Gunwerks just came out with an ultralight as well. Sako has a very nice one also. Todd at Southrn xpress could make you a sweet custom. Now learning to SHOOT an ultralight is a whole different topic....lol I am super happy with my Kimber and wish I had gone that route years ago. With a swarovski scope my rifle and scope weigh about 6.5 lbs, loaded. -
I seriously thought this was going to be about someone actually drawing an elk tag this year....

Like Dano said, you are more than welcome to try the one I have as well. I am not using it.

If not already sold I will take them. PM sent

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I have already gone both of those routes. The store bought ones are too big and look terrible anyway. The replicas are my fallback. I would prefer to find a real one though.

I don't get it. Did I miss something funny? Seems like perfectly normal parking at my house.

I got the exact same tag in NM that I got in Arizona. Conspiracy.

I wear the 5.11 stretch pants when in the desert and they are very nice. Pretty much indestructible and quite comfortable. I also wear the costco tech pant which is a lightweight stretch pant and they have been awesome as well. For 20 bucks it is hard to find any complaints about them. Never tried the Prana but I have read the costco are similar.

Learn the area. Have a plan abcdefghij. I have never scouted for animals but I do always scout for access points and various terrains. find water, pines, scrubs, canyons. Learn several different areas that have different habitats because you never know what the weather will be like for early archery. Take someone with you who knows how to call. Not essential for success but sure makes it more fun and opens up WAY more options. hunt during the week. Weekends are a circus.

The implication is the idiot hoarders didn't know about it and it was a stupid thing to post. Just as dumb as posting a hunting honey hole which I GUARANTEE you think is s stupid thing to put on the internet. He could have just as easily helped out those on here that are looking for something specific via a personal message LIKE THE REST OF US HAVE DONE. Now there will be nothing there. So who did he really help? I'll take your offense as a complement.

So much for this place being a secret. Now they will have empty shelves just like everyone else.
