    22-250 for wt

I have had several rem 700 vssfs. amazingly accurate . I shot everything from 40 grain to 63 smp from sierra. all good. the 60 hornady , nosler , and berger all shot good. the 65 was not available. at that time. I doubt it will stabilize it. never needed to try it. those others worked fine . I would lean to that factory trophy bonded , or one of the 60s especially the partition. that said, a buddy shot a 97" coues with a 50 ballistic tip.

    6.5x284 mule deer/coues gun

the 6.5-284 is fatter. I would probably like a 6.5-06 for its smoother feeding. but already have the 6.5-284. my 7mm rem mag with a brake kicks half as much as the 6.5-284. my brother now shoots a .264 with a Krieger barrel and a brake. he shot a coues at 627 yards last year.

    6.5x284 mule deer/coues gun

Trophy - i have two 6.5-284s, on of them is going to kaibab in 2 weeks. i just shot it thursday at 600 yards. very small groups. my brother had 3 6.5-284s and my son-in-law had one. also. what makes them so good is the rem 700 action and the krieger barrel, the shilen trigger. your results with a factory rifle will vary.
  18. Gunit- what states? also, you do not say what unit you were hunting. if you want to see big bucks hunt a unit that has them. choose a hunt during a time of the year when you are more likely to see them. the game and fish dept weighs and measure deer over time in Kaibab. a yearling buck that dresses out 83 pounds, and has a 4"inch spike horn on one side will never become a big buck; a yearling buck that dresses out 123 pounds, and has 5 points on one side and 4points on the other and a 23" spread will has great potential and will always be bigger than ANY spike.

    New Elk Rifle

awesome figure in fwt stock! I would use 168ttsx.
  20. antler restrictions are a TERRIBLE way to manage mule deer. if you protect spikes they do not get shot. they will never develop into a big antlered buck. if you want more big bucks; harvest the spikes over a long period. require a ALL bucks harvested be a spike. if are you saying a 3 point minimum. then the big bucks get harvested only. you will not have big bucks. only genetically inferior ones.

    Reverse engineering

my mark v .257 is still a mystery. tried a lot of different loads. I would try a lot of 7828 and a 100 grain bullet. factory ammo for sure the primers are 215 fed, powder either mrp or re-22.

    Reloading recipes for 243

i would try 87 berger, 95 berger classic, 95 nosler. h-4350 or re-26 for higher velocity. varget and i-4064 for accuracy.
