Deertrail

My husband & I met in a fish house on New years eve, and were married in Feb of ‘82. We raised our children on 15 acres in Minnesota. We had land, so we gardened, we had deer & grouse so we hunted, we had a swamp, so we put up a duck blind, we got a boat, so we fished in a few of the many lakes up here. We ate great. The children grew up. So we downsized, to 5 acres and put our house in a stand of oak. Behind our house is acreage, much of it was heavily rifle hunted, so we got some powder guns & bows, got a camper and headed further north on back roads in search of grouse with our Golden Retriever, Buck. Eventually our youngest son grew up and moved out, the dog passed on, and we sold the camper. I became disabled, and then got bit by a couple of nasty ticks and took on a battle with Lyme disease which mimicked Alzheimer’s. Praise be to God & thanks to a good doctor, I have somewhat recovered! Last Oct. we setup three wildlife cams in a panoramic view in the woods behind our home. We began broadcasting our cams online so we could see what all goes on out there, and eventually took off the passwords to share the cams, with other viewers. It has been interesting to see the different wildlife that passes through. Since I have neck injuries I can no longer shoot, but the thrill of seeing the deer & talking with others about hunting and wildlife will suffice. Get a bad craving for a really good meal from time to time though! About the closest we get now a days is when someone trades us scraps of venison for some of our venison sausage & jerky. But hey good food comes even in small packages!
