Lets play guess the score— AZ rifle coues deer—updated with score 141 5/8
GreatWhiteBuffalo replied to Adicted's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Great Buck Score will depend on where the mass measurements are taken. Taking the measurements as marked on the attached, I get 119 1/8 -
That eliminates the Spaniards AZ territorial period would most likely be a military fort, Huacahuca?

seems like your initial call for being a marten could be correct; from DOW web site. The marten (often called the pine marten or American marten) is a weasel that lives in trees. Males are about two feet long, with an eight inch tail, and they weigh about 1 1/2 pounds. Females are 10 to 20 percent smaller than the males and weigh only half as much as males. Martens are brown, right to the tip of the tail, and a pale yellowish brown beneath. Martens are mostly nocturnal, but when they are hungry they are active day or night. As other weasels, martens are active year round. In the coldest weather they may den in a tree hole or chickadee nest Of the eight members of the weasel family known in Colorado, only two actually are called weasels: the long-tailed weasel and the ermine, or short-tailed weasel. Both of these species have black-tipped tails, but they are readily distinguished from each other by size. The long-tailed weasel is 14 – 18 inches long, weighs about five ounces, with a tail about half the length of the body. Short-tailed weasels are eighteen ten inches long, weigh only 1 1/2 ounces with a tail less than one-third the length of their body. Typical of weasels, males are about 20 percent larger than females. Both species turn white in winter, except for the tip of the tail, and both species are brown in the summer; although the long-tailed weasel is yellowish to orange below, whereas the short-tailed weasel has a white belly.

Desert Backpacking Buck (October Rifle 2018)
GreatWhiteBuffalo replied to a topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Congratulations to both of you. Thanks for sharing but we need more. I love the 4-5 mi hiking in the dark and backpacking, but there is no way I am sleeping on the ground, in the desert, in AUG-SEPT. Tell us more of the scouting adventure. You haul in your cot! Hammock? -
Seem to catch one on cam every summer

CO early draw elk hunts are only $100 for youths. A great way to fill the freezer and they are an either sex hunt.

"Stoneman Lake area looks like the Kaibab before it went to a draw this morning, to bad too because 6A was just starting to show some promise again." Sucks to have one of the 50 late WT tags this year

I have always hunted Cholla for the very reason bird dog owners avoid them like the plague, a steel comb and needle nose pliers a must -

Seeking advice on western Colorado lake fishing for Kokanee
GreatWhiteBuffalo replied to CouesPursuit's topic in Fishing
It is not trolling or 'fishing' but Snagging of Kokanee starts in September. Seems like last year snagging at Mc Phee/Dolores peaked in middle October. Not sure there is even a limit, just lots of fish to smoke! With water levels up this year, it should be a great run. -
