In a similar spirit to this comment, if we continue to improve the methods of taking game, but dont have anyway to increase the renewable resource of game animals, then arent we bound to hunt ourselves out of opportunity. Aldo Leopold compared this to improving a pump without improving a well. Eventually you will run out of water. I also disagree with the argument that just because a method of take is legal, that it should be embraced by the hunting community. Another Leopold quote was that Ethics were doing the right thing when no one was looking, even when the right thing might be legal. The North American model of wildlife management is based on these principles and the principle of fair chase. Fair chase is also a foundational principle for both P&Y club and B&C. In the past, hunters policed themselves and carried the burden of defining acceptable practice. Today that sentiment has changed greatly. We regularly see comments stating essentially if its legal, dont question it. Perhaps we should be questioning more things amongst ourselves instead of squashing debate. Perhaps we should not declare that our actions are beyond question simply because they are beyond prosecution. Maybe we owe it to ourselves and to future hunters to have the conversation.

Actually, the word "javelina" has nothing to do with javelins or spears, or even Mexicans. It stems from the Spanish word for the European wild boar, "jabali." The Spanish conquistadores who first encountered the collared peccary in the New World long before there was a Mexico added "ina" to indicate they reminded them of small wild boars. English-speakers often have trouble with Spanish words that contain a B and tend to pronounce them as if the B was a V, which resulted in a "jabalina" becoming known as a "javelina." Bill Quimby This is correct^^^ Good to see you approve. I am sure Bill will sleep better tonight knowing he got a nod from the great Czar of The Peccaries.

Looking forward to some new glass! -
Id rather have that than a late archery 6a bull tag.
-
Will your buddies' points put you in the bonus pass for that hunt? Shouldnt. Fingers crossed.
-
I screwed up and put in for a late archery tag. I might actually be relieved to see a no charge on my card.

Adam is always giving out happy endings. Kind of his MO. -
You just keep gut shooting animals at 62 yards the rest of us could kill with a pocket knife and our bare hands... Flame on...TB Trust me, every one already knows you are flaming...

Well we have 7 of 8 apps turned in. Just waiting on a buddy so we can apply for elk together. When using their points you are at their mercy. My soon to be 10 yr old is a lucky boy with his mom and grandma both saying they plan to donate tags to him if they draw. So he has 6 chances in this draw. Hopefully the kid can draw at least one tag.

That's something to be proud of I guess? Nice work. Good job. Real thumbs up. Dudes been on here like 2 weeks and already starting stuff. Real thumbs up. Needs a buddy to help him pack out a javelina.

Last time I went out I didnt even get my tripod out. Just walked up to where they were and shot it. Then it crawled in a cave and died and I never saw it again.

Thought I ended my pig-less streak yesterday with a 62 yd shot. The hit was back but I could see a gaping hole on the exit side and internal organs were now external. We gave it a little time but I figured that pig would be dead soon after or at the very lest mostly immobilized. Started the blood trail and it was easy to follow. About 150 yds into the trail I could see it get up and move through the brush in front of me. When I went up to where it had been, the blood trail lead to here . . . So here is my question, what would you guys have done?

No video??? So disappointing...

Thats awesome, definitely a good day for dad.

That is rad! How old is she?

Wyoming. Still pretty cheap, good draw odds, tons of antelope.

ID has a great mentored tag program. If a youth hunts with an adult who has a full price license (r or NR), they can buy the same tag for like $35. Mentored licenses are cheap too. ID is great for youth. However I would not recommend an elk hunt. ID is big and steep and cold. Go shoot some deer, they have either sex units, and have a great trip.

I think JCubed was butthurt that his feud didnt make the list, so he is trying to steal mine. I am not sure if that makes us friends or enemies...? You dont have a real feud with Blake until he makes fun of your elk.
