Well this is a nice surprise, we drew our first choice! Just a 3% chance, it's a pretty good unit.

You will see coues high to low in AZ. Mule deer I tend to see high or low.

I carry 10's in the straps and 15's mounted to a tripod. Before I had 15's I glassed up lots and lots of coues with 10's mounted to a tripod. Spot and stalk is a whole new ball game from hunting back east. I would suggest you listen to some of Jay Scotts podcasts on hunting coues. Great info in there about glassing and stalking that is applicable to lots of animals. He shares a lot of lessons that it took me years to learn in the field. It's about the best free advice you can get.

Well if they want to look into the bone does that mean they did not find a mass in the soft tissue via the MRI? That seems like good news. Looking for that silver lining my friend.

I know that is scary stuff. I had a mass on one of my jewels this year, I was told there is a 90% chance it was cancer. It wasn't. Prayers to you brother, try not to let your mind run away with itself just yet.

I use a knife and a backpack. I have an uncle in MT who is old school and he built a single wheeled cart 20 yrs ago and they still use it for half a dozen elk every fall. I don't get it, seems just as easy to just quarter it right there, it has to be done anyway why pack al that bone out.

idaho, montana, new mexico. basically AZ is the worst mule deer hunting in the country except for the north rim lolUmmm, New Mexico sucks real bad. Like really bad. They are similar in that they have the Jicarilla and basically nothing else. But at least we have Cow palace that can crank out a 200" deer.

I would check out the South and West portion of the unit.

Yup. It's nothing that cannot be done now, except now it can be done twice because a no hunting applicant can turn in their tag after being drawn the first time.
