The Suns been up for 4 hours, where are the pics already?!?
Flatlander replied to Antmo23's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
24b Wah Wah Wah Sorry bud! shoulda took the early hunt. -
Keep your head up and eye on the prize. After missing my #1 buck on opening day of my goat hunt I was ready to plug the first mature buck I saw. My buddy's talked me out of it and we got back on that buck and another one that was bigger, long story short, it worked out very well. You can find him.

Wowzers! I suggest you kill one.

How go you all cook venison roast
Flatlander replied to muledeerarea33?'s topic in Cooking Wild Foods
Hector will probably want to gouge his eyes out when reading this but my wife puts the meat, carrots, potato chunks and other veggies in the crockpot with cream of onion soup. It's delicious and always falling apart. Throw some home made rolls in the oven and you have a fantastic meal that will help you bulk up for winter. -
Wishing you a great day, hopefully spent out in the woods some place.

If I down a 9 pack before noon,should I seek help?
Flatlander replied to nlacost's topic in Predator Hunting and Trapping
Doesn't look like you need any help to me. Unless it's someone running around with a wheelbarrow scooping up the carcasses. Nice work! -
The 30-30 has probably killed more deer than any other caliber on the planet. Know your limitations and have a great time.

Wow what a consolation prize! And to be out there with you family like that, simply amazing. Congrats to all of you!

Knock em dead dude. You've had me sweating bullets after I threw out that quick almost dare of a recommendation. Keep us posted, if you have service don't make us suffer to the end.

Happy Birthday Mark!

I hope it's a great one. A day in the hills would be a perfect birthday.

I have never seen a mule deer rut in November here in AZ, but Lance is a smart guy who spends plenty of time in the woods. Anyways I digress . . . The desert in 24b, 37, 21, 22 and the 40's all have plenty of deer. Find some water sources and start hoof tracking where possible. That will give you an idea of where they head after water. Then get up high and glass those areas with your bino's on a tripod. Be patient it takes time to learn how to be effective with glass and the only way to get better is do it more. Archery mom permit tags are good for all open units so just make sure you are in an open area and get after it. Good luck and have fun.

Awesome story, it makes me giddy thinking those days are just a few short years away for our family. Great job Dad and even better job Sydney! Congrats to an outdoor family.
