All department emails are public record. So if you want them, all you have to do is ask for them. But be specific in what you are asking for because they won't just go print every email ever sent to or from the dept. The bottom line on this one is that we need to be engaged. I feel like diverting this from a public committee to a department committee reduced the amount of input from sportsmen. There are definitely folks who are close tot he department with an agenda for a raffle. So if we disagree we will have to speak up and speak loudly. I know that there are organized efforts to do so. I hope that individual sportsmen will also share their feelings with the department and the commission as loudly as they have expressed them on this site. No matter how much we type on this website none of it does any good unless it gets to the right people. And AZKiller - Keep dreaming, I am so far out of your league.

Wow they did discuss this in the last Public meeting and yes they are supposed to an increased fee. I didn't feel it was a secret at all. I believe what rathrbhunting is referring to is the fact that this committee did nothing to gather ideas from the public until last nights webcast. At the webcast they presented a slide deck on what their ideas were and there was no means for public input. So even though they sent out an email saying they wanted our ideas, they have made it difficult for folks to provide them.

How did you do on your hunts out there? Well now that you ask, we have never killed an elk there. But I wouldnt take that as an indication of hunt quality. All of these were newbie hunts and all of them included shot opportunities. I probably wouldnt be picky, even though I have seen some nice bulls there.

I dont get why everyone has such a hard on for that goat. Its got giant prongs but they are looking or 4 high. I think that thing is ugly.

I would not characterize this unit as a top notch unit for AZ. From the little bit of research I have done, I would not put It up there with other units that consistently produce giant goats. But hey, I could be wrong. I was once before.

I have hunted this a few times. Its not 23 or 9 or 1 but we have had a lot of fun chasing some bugling bulls. They can be tough to get on. I actually prefer to stay out where you can glass. Especially the transitions areas. Good luck and keep us posted.

Be sure to tune into the meetings, take the time to make a comment and follow through with it. Posting ideas here is good for brainstorming but it doesnt show the commission anything. The next webcast is 8/9.

Not sure what your connection to the group is, hopefully you know more than me, but there is at least one commissioner who is very much in favor of the raffle process. I dont doubt that there are some good folks on the committee, but I am also very concerned that sportsmen show up and speak their mind on the issue and this is a tough time for lots of them to do that. Regardless, we have to show up. Oh, and yes I have several ideas which have been shar d numerous times and I will show up and share with this specific group.
