Well, just to add insult to injury for all of us losers.... Blake Owens drew as many tags as we did this year. 🤮

I’m going on a charter boat, all meals (mostly fresh caught seafood), lodging and fishing provided. Bought my plane ticket round trip to kodiak island for $540 about a month ago. If i shoot two or three deer and catch a bunch of halibut and have it all shipped home through a packer, tips , tags, licenses, a motel room the day before and the day after my hunt, all food, everything until i’m back home with my animals i’ll be in it for under 4K. Not much more than most DIY out of state hunts i’ve done.

Lol. I’ve never been but you guys would be shocked if you knew how affordable it is.
-
I might be down for that. Give me a ring when it gets closer! I’ve actually got some pretty good spots in 6A.
-
Thanks for the kind words. I’m goin to Kodiak for blacktail in November. Glad i had a plan B already.

There were 2 bull tags on Raymond Ranch this year...
-
Not one tag in the family this year. Had probably 30 applications across deer, elk, antelope, sheep and bison.

i could get by with a half ton for 90% of what i do but the tradesman with the Cummins was actually comparable (or cheaper) than a lot of half tons.

Horses are worse than cattle. I've seen elk and cattle together several times but never elk and horses. Horses moved into a couple areas i have salt licks in and the deer moved out. i have photos of horses chasing off deer and even photos of an old mule chasing a bear off a salt lick.

i don't like the side storage boxes. Mine does not have them. i don't think they are an option in a tradesman? I could be wrong though. Sometimes i wish i would have gone with a fancier model but i just couldn't gut 10-20k extra for added comfort. Maybe if i drove enough i would. I've had my 2018 for 2 and a half years and it just rolled over 15k miles.

I had a 2016 2500 cummins (wrecked it) and now have a 2018 2500 cummins. Went with the tradesman model on both of them because they still have shifters for both the transmission and 4WD. The tradesman model is not fancy but still has everything i need (power windows, power mirrors, carpet, backup camera) and i won't have to worry so much about the interior falling apart down the road as i plan on keeping it for a long time. I also saved nearly 20k between this model and the laramie longhorn. It still has the same mechanical features, just not a fancy interior. My 2018 has the offroad package which was only like a $500 option and came with Bilstein shocks, fender flares, sits slightly higher and has a downhill assist button/feature.

I hiked deep into a spot on Black River (State Land) a couple weekends ago and fishing was ROUGH to say the least. crawdads have hatched, flow was way down, water was getting pretty murky with all the algae forming. The fish were not hungry at all with all the crawdads in the water. Fishing is going to be pretty tough for the next several months.

I heard it was a joke. Everything went for way more than it was worth -
Yeah....everyone that lives in a city is a “citiot”. Let’s just shut em all down and see what happens. More of the BIG fires are started by lightening or people that are wood wise than anything else. “Citiots” tend to stay in (and trash) campgrounds, rather than getting off the grid in high risk areas. I grew up in a very small mountain town and the bias gets more ridiculous every year. Small towns would not exist if it wasn’t for visitors. Jagged pill to swallow for some but it is the truth. If Payson blocked all roads in and out, it would no longer be a town in a matter of months.

Ooohhhh. Someone’s got a beef with G3 outfitters it sounds like. This might get juicy.
-
That's exactly what they did. We're supposed to beef up one of those towers here soon for some new equipment. looks like that job just went on hold

Perfect binos to accompany a big eye set up?

GPO 12x50’s. Right there with meopta. Better than vortex, not quite as good as swaro. I’d definitely stick with 12’s if you have big glass and only want to pack one pair. 15’s are too much and with 10’s you’ll want just a little more. -

I ran 12’s with my BTX and it was about right. -
We’ve been using a cabelas 1.75hp for a lot of years now and for the most part it has been good. It’s processed a hundred animals probably. That being said, i would personally look for a used Hobart if i was doing it again. Commercial grade grinders work a lot better than the countertop models.

The scary thing is how much he probably DID get away with before these charges stuck.... Serial poacher for sure. Be interesting to see how this one pans out.
