+1 Legal in AZ. But keep in mind that P&Y will not recognize your trophy if you have any electronic device mounted to your bow.

I'm starting to think off shore fishing may just not be worth it in Hawaii. Probably smarter to save the cash and not go for a crappy boat ride. Thanks for all the input everyone. I should change the topic to "any EATING recommendations in hawaii" cause it sounds much more productive than fishing in hawaii. lol

He said he wants a Dodge... So I'm assuming he doesn't mind tranny problems. LOL

Nope, not VIP but we do dump our fair share of cash at this banquet. We did a full corporate table at the AZ Elk Society banquet this year too. We didn't have as much luck winning any raffles there though.
-
It was a good time like always. Good bunch of people at these banquets. Our table did ok this year. We won a Ruger 10/22, S&W M&P40, Leupold spotter, Leupold range finder, a couple of purses, RMEF Eberelestock backpack, float tube and a few other random things. And I bought the "off the wagon" random old beater wagon full of booze. I didn't really even care for what it was but it's fun getting the night kicked off by winning the first live auction bid. One guy at our table bought a trip to Kansas to hunt whitetails too. Oh yea, and we bought the Africa trip as well.

We sponsor a corporate table every year. We'll be there with 11 of us!

Hoping someone on here knows their plants and deer / elk biology better than I do. I found these plants popping up in large amounts at a couple of areas that I've been keeping an eye on that typicaly holds elk and mule deer. They are spreading like ground cover. Some already have flowers and some haven't sprouted yet. My question is, is this edible for deer or elk, or is it a noxious weed that's not good for an area?

What boat were you on in SD that caught all the tuna? I always use the "Prowler" Awesome Capt and we slaughter the tuna and dorado. I'll have to dig up the old pics to see what boat we were on, it was 14 years ago. It was out of Point Loma. I'll give them a call and see what they can recommend. Thanks! We're thinking about doing the zipline tour too and probably do some of our own exploring around the island to see if we can get lost or find an undiscovered Hawaiian pygmy tribe.

Mexico is definitely out of the question. We already have Hawaii hotels booked and this isn't just a fishing trip, it's also a 2 week long vacation with a day or two of fishing. I wish I was going to SD for Tuna this year, should be good this year. We hit it once before on a hot year and over stuffed the boat's freezer. We were literally gaffing 100# plus tunas at the back of the boat when they were boiling, didn't even need fishing line or bait. I'm also looking into Kauai deep sea fishing as a possibility too. I've never had a great experience fishing from Maui. I wonder if Kauai is any better, maybe less fished out since it's a smaller more remote island?

Okay, changing my post to just reel for sale since the census says it's an easy swap to either left or right handed. Still for sale.- 5 replies

5/6 WT Fly Reel for sale - RMEF Special Edition

I'm new to fly fishing, did not know that was an option. Thanks for the info. I haven't tried making the swap but I already bought another reel so this one is still for sale. And just to be clear, the handle is on the right hand side to retrieve so the pole would be in your left.- 5 replies

Good to hear. Found a decent fresh brown 3 point shed in there this weekend too.

Looks like it after searching images of Lupines. Thanks guys!

Haha ya I've heard that's their delicacy. We'll stick to the fresh seafood and other non canned goods.

I definitely think Mahi will be on the top of our list if we go out on a boat. I caught a wahoo last time I fished out of Maui and a couple of tuna too. Roughest seas I had ever been on, waves crashing over the top deck of our boat (10'+ over the lower level) I don't get sea sick but that trip i actually lost my lunch, but was instantly better after that. I hope the weather holds out when we're there so it doesn't ruin her for life and make her never want to go back out deepsea again. Did you rent tackle or bring your own? Awesome ideas to fish for peacock bass, spearfishing (just gotta find out the rules) and shark fishing. Keep the food recommendations coming too. \We plan on eating our way around each island. Love trying new food at different places. Thanks for all the great stuff so far!!!

Here's the inciweb link. http://inciweb.nwcg.gov/ Slide fire (Slide Rock area) and Badger fire (I-17 RV caused fire) are both on there but need updating.

What time of year did you go? Of course we'd like to catch giant marlin but we know that's a very limited opportunity and most likely won't happen. I just taught her to fish last year and now she's got the bug to go out all the time. It would probably be the most fun for both of us if we are in more action all day rather than catch nothing while hoping for the big one.

*Edited title to bring topic back to Fishing* Thanks for all of the great input everyone. Keep 'em coming. We're in Kauai for a week and then Maui for a week, so we'll have plenty of time to relax, explore and per Pine Donkey's request... lots of hanky panky. I've been to Maui a couple of times and fished there once but it was a company trip so I don't have info on the charter we used, not that fishing was that good then anyways. We're already bracing for the huge hit the wallet will take but it's gonna be worth it. Someone on here has to have been fishing in Maui...

Not much info yet but here's something. Looks like grass to me. http://www.myfoxphoenix.com/story/25569239/brush-fire-near-cordes-junction-closes-interstate http://www.azcentral.com/story/news/arizona/2014/05/20/fire-sparked-rv-closes-near-sunset-point-abrk/9345117/

For a more affordable boot than the Lowas or Kenetreks that still hold up try the Irish Setter Hunt Havoc. Great ankle support, great tread (doesn't look aggressive and doesn't pick up every little thing under you but they perform really well). I've been wearing the same pair for over a year and they've been through heck and back and still hold up just fine.

Camera Sold. Only the table left. This is a great little lightweight table if someone likes to car camp in a minimalist way. It doesn't take up any more room than a folded up camp chair.
