The traffic slows down during hunts (at least, thats what I've seen in the last 6 years) seems like they don't want to get intercepted by a hunter as much as you dont want to get intercepted by them. Be aware but enjoy a great hunt in some beautiful country.

Around 5K in altitude. I would say high 80's during the day but my friend, the AZ sun is hot. You will see 30 degree temp swings from day to night. Once you draw, post it up. Some know area's better than others around here. Be prepared to get hooked on Coues though. I haven't looked at mule deer the same way since my first coues hunt!

With those choices... Congrats on your first Coues Deer tag!!! There are a few of us on this site with great knowledge of those units. Water would be what I would focus on for a backpacking trip. FYI, you don't HAVE to backpack those units if you are okay with 4-6 miles round trip a day. Besides that, prepare yourself for long (plan on it being HOT) days behind the glass. Practice glassing game as much as you can. I didn't spot a coues on my first hunt, 6 years later I am good for at least one HAHA.. If there is anything I can do to help out, let me know.

The bulls will be where the cows are by the time the rut kicks off.. I would be more concerned if all you had was bulls, they'll be moving around before the hunt. Keep those cows happy and you'll be golden. GOOD LUCK!

That would be a fun hunt! Any hunters ed that has a "field day" will be acceptable for CO. So pretty much, unless your hunters ed came from TX, you'll be alright.
