MulyHntr Report post Posted May 16 I need to develop loads for a couple of Browning 7mm-08’s I have. One is an X-Bolt, the other is a BAR mk3. What suggestions of bullets and weights do you have? Rifles and loads are to be used on Az Coues Whitetail and mule deer. I’m open to suggestions.

L Cazador Report post Posted May 16 The Xbolt and the BAR are two different animals. With that said don't handicap your 7-08 with 140 grain bullets especially for a small animal like Coues deer, 120-130 grain will get the job done in fine fashion. The BAR will like a bit quicker powder so don't leave out H4895 or N140 as well as Varget and H4350. I would recommend two different brass headstamps so you can keep your two loads separated. That seating depth that will work for your Xbolt will not work very well in your BAR. Stick to magnum primers for both. Fire form your cases first before working up a load. Once your case are fire formed don't mix in your two chambers. Don't use factory ammo for your brass unless you don't have a choice. Been shootin' the 7-08 for 50 plus years. Have fun! Couesdeer Report post Posted May 16 I have had tremendous success with 120 Gr Nosler ballistic tips over a stiff charge of Varget. (best accuracy seems to be around the 3050FPS) Kills deer, pig, and cow elk effectively.
