Viper Report post Posted September 26 In 2023, I had an archery elk tag, which my brother from IN joined me. We had a great time, but the rut was very lackluster. While riding the sxs back to camp, my brother wrote this "article" regarding the poor rut, in Paul Harvey fashion. Elk Times Article Stand by for Mews On 15 September 2023, Elk Hunting Season kicked off as it has year after year as far back as anyone can remember. Hunters had anticipated this event all year and couldn’t wait to get started. What they didn’t know was... the rest of the story. In August there was an Annual Meeting between the Board of Bulls and the Council of Cow. President of the Board of Bulls Benjamin Bullwinkle made the following statement. "Every year we go through this ridiculous mating season which creates lots of fighting amongst our whole community. It seems as though we are stuck in a rut of some sort. Now, this may rub some of you the wrong way, others may get a chuckle but I am going to propose the following solution. I propose that Cows be divided equally amongst all Bulls that register prior to the Fall Equinox. This will eliminate the need for all the bugling, showing off, etc. There has been a Spike in noise complaints lately, so this should help. Ladies, you don’t always have to have the hunkiest Bull. Guys, you don’t have to have the hottest cows. I think we can all agree that this solution is best for our community." After this, a vote was taken and the proposal passed by a majority.
