Gimmicky looking FB ads for Radios

Have you seen these ads for radios that are supposed to work across the country? They’re on like a cell phone network or something? They worth a shoot?

I did some research. I think they’re kinda like the old push to talk phones. They don’t work without cellular service and you have to pay a monthly fee. I think they’re a gimmick.
