Based only on YOUR observations and experience, what would you say is the ONE favorite food (i.e. ocotillo leaves, mesquite beans, forbs, etc...) of Coues deer?

Shot my biggest buck while he was eating barrel cactus fruit. This was a Nov. tag. I can not remember if the fruit is still on with the dec. hunt (Since it has been 13 years since my last fricking late hunt)

Noel Arnold (Arizona native who can never get drawn for the late hunt)

I would have to say mesquite leaves and wait-a-minute bush leaves and pods. I quess it depends on where you hunt!

Red Stem Fillery is the little freen forb that kinda looks like small Dandylion leaves.

This stuff comes to life when the late fall or winter rains soak the open desert slopes. This is probably the stuff you can thank for pulling those deer out from the cover and out into the open slopes wilst they seem to have their noses glued to the ground.

Then they have ice cream for dessert.
