New Mexico Tag

Greetings,

 

I got my New Mexico "carcass tag" yesterday. Its pretty different than an Arizona tag, it's just a sheet of paper. Anybody else get theirs? On the tag is states "this is not a hunting license, the hunter must purchase one separately". When I read the NM regs, it states hunting license are not issued to non-residents. Is there something else I need to do? (i am going to call the NM Game and Fish)

I called NMG&F a couple of weeks ago and asked a similar question. The nice gal said we can puchase the license from the department or fron a license vendor. She thought the cutoff date would be a few days before the hunt, but said a letter enclosed wth the carcass tag woud offer explanation.

I also talked to NM game and fish last week. They said I should be getting my PERMIT very soon and that when I receive it I can then buy my nonresident deer LICENSE at any vendor. Hopefully we can also buy these online.

Got my deer permit and carcass tag today. Just need to buy my deer license and with help from crazyaboutcoues should be a great hunt. I'm stoked.
