Mearns Quail- Dec 7, 2012

I have been used to the Mearns season opening Thanksgiving weekend in recent years, that I was surprised to see in the regs that the opening date has changed to Dec 7 this year. Just a heads up to anyone else that may be caught off guard.

 

I do not have high hopes for the Mearns season after the last two years, but still can dream of some good reports from down south.

I think they changed it so the mearns season would not overlap with any deer hunts. they still did not get it right though because they extended the late nov/early dec deer hunt to a 10 day hunt and there is still an overlap anyway.

I did flush one on the hunt last weekend in an area that doesn't hold many so I hope that is a good sign.
