Rem 770 issue

Recommended Posts

My wife has a remington 770 in 7mm. When ejecting the shell something on the bolt is catching the next round in the mag and ripping the neck of the case. I would like to just get her another rifle but she is attatched to this one for some reason. Any ideas on whats wrong with it? Besides the fact that its a 770.

Convince her that a 770 is NOT WORTH FIXING.

Besides that, you really have to take a good look at the bolt to see what could be protruding and causing the tear. Does it do it if you load the rifle, close the bolt empty and then cycle the bolt?

Yes. And I'll keep on her to get a new one.

The 770's have a more tolerance on the bolts from what I have seen. Is it possible the magazine spring is putting too much upward pressure on the rounds?
