I love "La Danza del Venado" My wife used to perfom La Danza del Venado before with great realism! The coues antlers she used on her head are now on my desert landscape.

I would love to learn more about the culture of the Yaqui. My wife is from Ciudad Obregon and there is a lot of Yaqui history in that area. I need to check it out more next time I am down there. My wife's uncle grew up around Yaquis and I met him once and he talked to me some in Yaqui, I thought it was pretty neat. Is there anywhere in Arizona where they have a museum or where you can see the "Danza del Venado"? I would love to go see it.

here is a link to a site with more info and a video. Haven't watched the whole video but I think it includes yaqui deer dance songs.

Just had dinner last night with someone who said some of the yaquis have been having problems with crossing the border with deer they are going to use in their rituals. I think the border patrol is worried that there are drugs stuffed in the deer. So the deer get ripped up from what I hear.
