Deer Herd Slain

12-01-2006 1:58 AM

(Ft. Huachuca, AZ) -- A near catastrophic accident involving an Army airplane earlier this month has led to the removal of a deer herd near Libby Army Airfield at Fort Huachuca. The deer were a safety problem and the fort complied with the FAA Wildlife Hazard Management at Airports manual. The FAA has a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to the hazards deer create for flight operations. The Arizona Department of Game and Fish said on Wednesday that the problem herd of 29 deer were killed. On November 14th, an RC-12 aircraft with two crew members onboard collided with a deer at about 6:30 p.m.. This led to the decision to eliminate the animals.

I think thats something that they should not announce. they should just kill them and move on. announcing something like that is going to upset alot of people. from enviro's who dont want them killed to hunters who would of paid to go kill them.

Transplant sheep & antelope all over the place, but apparenlty 29 deer aren't worth that much effort. Seems very wasteful to me.
