My Serria manual list 46 grains of RL15 as the max load for 180 grain boat tail .308 win. Lyman says 45 grains Hornady says 42 is Max for their amax and sst. pwrguy Report post Posted January 15, 2015 They are all very conservative, they have to be to avoid litigation. If you look at reloading books from 40 years ago you will see a huge difference in max loads. Too many variations in chamber size, free bore, temperature etc. I am not afraid to exceed under certain conditions, but most of the time I find a sweet spot within the published load range. I quit wasting money on books and just start low and work up. There is plenty of legitimate published information on the internet to come up with a starting point. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
