How to fine tune your archery skills

I helped the BLM with fish sampling on the gila river and we did that electro fishing. The biger fish we be stuned and float to the service but the small fish would jump out of the water to aviod the shock. Thats one way they could have gotten the carp to jump, but from my experience that big of fish wouldn't do that. Not sure if that would be legal either but they are non-native so maybe anything goes?
