Larry Maniag
Larry took this nice 3×3, in unit 22. He got him with his bow with a 20 yard shot from his tree stand. They had 12 inches of snow during the hunt. This is Larry’s 6th Coues buck in a row with a bow. Pretty impressive!!

I had located this buck and several others scouting in the fall for the upcoming ’06-’07 archery season. I had a chance at him from my double bull blind in early Jan. but screwed it up. Lucky for me on the 28th of Jan. I was able to harvest him from my treestand at 19 yds. Gross 78 inch.

Unit 31, AZ
I went down to hunt unit 31 for the first time and what started out to be a javelina hunt turned out to be a whole lot more special. I saw this coues buck on the opposite hill at about 300 yards, so I backed out of site and came up on the back side of the hill he was on. There ended up being 2 bucks, one of which was a mature buck and then the one I shot. Anyways, the little one fed to within 70 yards of me and the bigger buck began to go the opposite direction, so I decided to kill the little guy. After the hit, he went about 80 yards and then expired. This is my third coues deer and my first with a bow. My two rifle coues scored 106″ and 108″, but due to the experience of killing this one with a bow using spot and stalk techniques, I would definitely say that this one was more special.

Unit 33, AZ
Here is what Rich had to say about this hunt:
This small Coues was suicidal it seems. Last January we were in Unit 33 and just finishing up caping my friend’s first pig, when I went to get something in my pack about 20 yds away. Looking up this young buck was standing broadside staring in our direction in the thick brush. I spoke loudly to my friend working on his pig that there was a buck, and he said well shoot it, thinking I was joking. I said OK, and just walked to my pack, put on my release, loaded an arrow and backed up to where I could see the deer again. Sure enough he was still standing there and I just estimated 50 yds and shot him. Turns out he was 51.5 yds. What are the odds of that happening? Anytime you can get a Coues buck eye to eye on the with a bow is a gift. He sure tasted great!

Jan. 2007
Mike decided to take the first 2 point that came by the stand, knowing he had a busy fall this year he wanted to get his deer hunt out of the way. Plus they are his favorite meat group! Mike also took a javelina the day before. This is his 3rd coues buck in a row with archery and 5th overall ( 2 rifle). He used a bowtec bow, 100 grain muzzy. 20 yard shoot. The buck ran about 30 yards and filed up.

Here is what Craig had to say about his hunt:
I took this buck in AZ on 5 Sept 2006. The shot was 29 yards from a Double Bull ground blind. I was using a Hoyt Trykon XL, Easton Full Metal Jacket 500 arrows, and 100 grain two-blade Stinger broad head. This is the first one I’ve ever taken, but definitely not my last!

This is Tyson’s first Coues buck! It grosses 106 (including velvet) and nets 101. This is not only his first Coues, but his first big game animal ever. He also found the sheds from this buck (you see them in the front of this buck in photo) in July before harvesting him.

Sept. 2006
Unit 33, Arizona
Marty got the buck of his dreams this year! Marty has been hunting for 30 years (started when he was 16 years old) and says this buck is truly a gift from God. It green scores 119 3/8 (gross).
Marty got this buck with the spot and stalk technique. And shot the buck at 35 yards, the angle was very steep downhill. He put the 30 pin low in his armpit & made the perfect shot. He only went 30yds & was done! Marty shot him with a ” AR” PSE-archery research bow , radial x-weave arrows & a 3 blade MUZZY! He was in unit 33 on Sunday evening when he was blessed by this dream buck.
Nick Cruz 2006
Jan. 2, 2006
Nick got this nice buck while hunting javelina. He glassed up the buck chasing does around 11 am. Nick then started his stalk on the buck and found him bedded. The buck was shot at 10 yards while in his bed. Two friends helped Nick on his hunt, Danny Padilla and Michael Diaz-Gonzalez. The buck green-scored 78 inches and is a 2×2 plus eyeguards.

Gino Wulkotte would like to congratulate his buddy, Jason, for a well deserved trophy. Jason put in close to 15 days hunting this January and saw a lot of deer. He passed up allot of small bucks, had a near miss on a windy day, and passed on a GIANT “once-in-a-lifetime” buck because the shot was not good….. This guy put the “P” in patients this year!
He shot his buck in the heart at 33 yards. It gross scores 90 4/8.

Unit 23, AZ
Larry says this buck was in full rut the day he got him. Larry was in a treestand and by a creek with lots of does around him. He got the buck with one 20 yard shot through the lungs. The buck went 50 yards and no more. Larry is on a roll….this is his 4th buck in a row with a bow. He has mounted all of them too. His other photos are in the archery photogallery also. (Too many to list all the links!)

Central Arizona
This is Justin’s second archery coues deer. We have a Diehard Coues deer hunter on our hands……
Justin was sitting 4 feet above his Dad’s head on this particular day and was equipped with a video camera. His Dad (Jason) had harvested a 92″ gross buck from this same tree last January and was looking for something in the 100″ range. So….. when this buck came down the trail and paused to make a scrape, Justin passed the camera to Dad and Dad passed his 70# bow up to Justin. Justin had never shot his Dad’s bow before and the draw weight was 8 or 9 lbs. greater than his own bow. The buck then continued down the path toward them and as he passed under their tree, Justin shot at thirteen yards and the buck expired within 25 yds of where they sat! And they got it all on video!

I shot this awesome non-typical with one shot at 12.5 yards at 8:15 am this Wednesday as he followed a doe past my stand. He was the 5th buck to come past me there in two days and by far the best.
Shane Church 2006
Jan 2006
Arizona
I filled my Pig tag on January 2nd and thought I might as well try to hunt deer the rest of the month. I had noticed that the rut was really in full swing by mid January, so I brought some sheds I had found and tried my luck. First thing that morning I rattled in a small 3 by 3 and passed on a shot at approximately 13 yards. Later that day I rattled in my 3 by 3 to around 35 yards and could not pass on the shot. He is not nearly as big as my last years buck as he only scores around 80″, but it was still an exciting hunt. For an added bonus while hiking around I also found a nice 95″ or so Coues rack pick up. Good times!
Here is a link to the buck Shane got just a few months before this one.
Rolando Romo 2005
Sept 2005
Unit 33, Arizona
Rolando got this buck with a 60 yard shot to the lungs. The buck’s right antler seems to be broken off or just didn’t grow out normally. This buck also has a 6 inch drop tine on the left antler. He has 7 points on that left side. He is a really unique buck. Rolando says that if the buck had a matching right antler he would have scored around 116!
