Tripod for Docters...question for those with experience

Recommended Posts

I just picked up a set of docters and the 055 Bogen that came with them is really sensitive to any movement. Does anyone have some suggestions for what leg system works for the big glass? I have a 502 head, just looking for a better leg set up.

I have a Slik Pro 330 DX. It isn't too heavy to pack and my 15 x 56's are steady even in the wind.

Which docters do you have? I have the 30x big eyes and the 701 manfrotto head works great! A bit heavy but it needs to be for the weight of the glass.

Oops I mis read your post. For legs I just use big Bogen legs. Heavy, yes, but stable for 30x.

Not sure of the weight comparison, but my Outdoorsmans tripod with their pistol grip head holds up by Swarovski 60mm spotter just fine. It is also pretty light weight and very tough. Their customer service is fantastic as well.
