I wonder why people complain about road hunters.... if they are road hunting...and you can see them... where are you? you must be close to a road for the road hunters to bother you.

I have a 2006 ranger no belt problems but did replace the factory belt with a Kevlar belt. I would opt for one with power steering, that darn ranger has almost broke my thumbs numerous times (when I am driving and hit a rock it jerks the steering wheel and if your thumbs are in the place....ouch)

Your welcome, I feel more comfortable not hearing vehicles so the further the better... make sure you know the area..on a couple of occasion I have hiked in the dark for a long way, sit down and say wow this is a great spot... then soon after sunrise I hear the putter of a quad...roads from the backside of the mountain!! darn!! -
hope you don't mind but what unit? curios to know where rut activity is being seen...i have a 24B tag that starts in 9 days

Glassing is the key... I have found in the early morning to glass the entire area, then as the morning draws on... glass the shaddy side of the hill. Big bucks are by the road... they may get pushed there during hunting season or live there year around ( I have seen two B&C Bucks killed within a half mile of a road...)they are there. I personally prefer to get a mile or so from a road and glass. then work an area glassing from different angles. The key is to be patient and glass all day... you will turn something up. -
dtower I hear ya! I got a Dec tag and I cannot wait, the weather looks like it will be great. What part of the unit you be hunting in... North, South, East, West (I have a red chevy silverado with a cab over camper and a Polaris Ranger) I plan to spend time around the mine opening weekend.

Hunter, Congrats on a nice deer. Sometime its better to not shoot immediately so you can spend more time in the filed with your family.

Are NAP Bloodrunner heads any good? - Here are my test results
Redman replied to Viper's topic in Bows, arrows, broadheads
Great test, I would think due to the speed and force of the arrow hitting an animal it would stay open all the way through, unless it hit bone and the arrow was stopped. Like any head, shot placement is the key. With an exit wound of 2.5 inches.... I think that would leave a nice blood trail. I went to Walmart last week and picked up a pack for $22, I was bummed all there was one. I shoot the three blade. Good luck...I have to start shooting my bow... I have a Dec rifle hunt so archery has been on the back burner, but I am going to start this week to great ready for Jan. -

Hi Everybody, thanks for the replies, my son and I have enjoyed reading them. We really owe a lot of thanks to our friend Paul who we hunted with...even though he is an ASU fan.. LOL. Yes, the first buck probably was much bigger.... hopefully my 9 year old will pose with him next year.
