Find one load that shoots best and use it for deer, elk, whatever. You have a rifle that can reach way out there no reason to limit it with light loads. Finding a good load and practicing and determining what you and your gun can do will make hunting much more enjoyable than shooting a bunch of loads. Of course if you have the time knock yourself out. I myself would not shoot cast bullets in a magnum rifle but you may have some good reasons I am not familiar with.

168gr HVLD's, 70.5gr H1000, Norma brass, CCI LRM primers. This is where I ended up with my 7mm RM so far out to 700yds and things are good. I hope to shoot out to 1k in the next few weeks. You can use HSM 168gr Berger HVLD loads as well. If it shoots them really good at the std spec they are loaded at you may just save yourself a whole bunch of time or at least have a factory load option. Sportsman's carries them when they are in stock.

KUIU pack vs. Outdoorsman Pack
rcdinaz replied to mountain man's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
I have the Kuiu and 3 different Eberle's. The Kuiu is great and very light, I use it on longer trips. It is a great pack and very comfortable but on most trips I still go to the Eberle because the integrated scabbard cant be beat. When I do use my Kuiu I use it with a Kifaru gun bearer to help with carrying the rifle so I dont have to strap it in to the pack. I have not used the Outdoorsman's but it looks like a great pack. They seemed to be designed a lot like the Eberle packs without the scabbard. -

You can also usually get them at a camera store. Just mentioning it in case you have to have one ASAP. -

rcdinaz posted a topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Mexico
Sorry for the multiple postings not sure where this one should go! We have two openings for a great hunt in Sonora, Mexico (East of Hermosillo). Date: January 12th – 18th Total cost: $2,500 (if you have priced other hunts in this area they run $3,500-$5,000) there are no additional trophy fees. The hunt includes: 5 full days of hunting Lodging in a ranch house with rooms, beds, showers and hot water. Deer tag, Cook, food and drinks. Someone to meet us at the border that will take us to the hunting area. Treating and freezing your cape Gun permit (If you can commit this week as getting the permit is a 6-8 week process) All the paper work completed allowing transportation to bring your trophy back. The Hunt does not include: Personal guide service Capping and/or cleaning your deer. (I will help you do this correctly if you don’t know how) Transportation Tips to staff Sorry this is short notice but it is a really great deal we may not ever get again to fill out this openings for this hunt. I am not an outfitter this is a hunt we booked and due to scheduling conflicts only two of us are going so we have two opening now. The ranch we are going to has agreed to let us try and fill the spots at a reduced price if we can. I can also get you in contact with someone that has hunted this ranch and can share pictures. This is our first trip to this ranch as well. The last few years they have killed some great deer and like most hunts in Mexico lot's of deer but you still hvae to do your part and let the air out of one. PM me with a number to text/call you back at if you are interested or have questions. -

Wow! And to think if we have one Snow that is lost and we knock down it is almost enough to consider it a successful season.

rcdinaz replied to swwildlife's topic in Southwest Wildlife Taxidermy
Cause you work too much! Great mounts! Most of just don't have the time to be out there as much as we could/should/would be to pin down big deer. -

Here is an article from Outdoor Life. If you stain it, maybe a little different process than the oiled finish. http://www.outdoorlife.com/articles/jim-carmichel/2007/09/refinish-your-rifles-stock

Bow is no better! Inclination, fletching twist/offset, site cant, 3rd axis, arrow wt, spine, and a bunch of crap other I haven't figured out.... I know guys that make fishing so technical its scary and funny. Like most things it only starts to seem simple after you do stuff a bunch of times as was stated above. My buddies who dont enjoy the learning part and challenge drive me nuts. "Okay you do it and figure it out and show me how"

Last Minute Mexico Coues Deer Hunt (great deal!)
rcdinaz replied to rcdinaz's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I just pulled the date in 1 week by request of the outfitter. John I left you v-mail. Matty I am pretty sure you can but I am waiting to hear back for verification. -
Stomp that is good enough to be a sticky. Could add brief description on a few other items BC, SD, Energy, Coriolis, Spin drift, barometric pressure, humidity, etc... All the potential factors to calculate POI in one place would be great I found turning off spin drift on my hadheld program had a pretty significant impact (in a bad way) on long range accuracy. I believe the quick math you can do in your head was 1MOA for most cartridges on average in the direction of the barrels twist.
