Technically the AZGFD never banned baiting, if you want to go pour 50 lbs of corn out in the forest it's perfectly legal, what they did ban was the act of taking big game over an edible substance. From what I gathered from the commission meeting they aren't looking to ban trail camera's just the take of big game within a 1/4 mile of a trail camera. One of the commissioners asked what if somebody shared a picture with someone from their trail camera but the owner of the trail camera didn't hunt it what would happen. AZGFD response was they would make sure the language for the law would cover all bases and both parties could be cited for take.

The 1/4 mile law only applies if you don't have permission to discharge a firearm or soon to be bow and arrow from the occupied structures owner. If there are that many locals that hunt that close to their homes just get permission to discharge your weapon, then your fine.

What were some of the rule changes proposed? One change had to do with trail camera's, I didn't catch all of it so I'm not sure if it was within a 1/4 mile of a trail camera being near water or a 1/4 mile of being within a trail camera but your weren't going to be able to take wildlife near a trail camera. Another one that caught my eye was it looked like they were going to make archery fall within the 1/4 mile of occupied structure rule just like firearms. Those were just a couple.

Just watched bits and pieces of the commission meeting, looks like there was at least a 10% increase in applications this year and the presenter said they weren't quite done processing all the paper apps yet, also some very interesting proposed rule changes coming.

Can you explain what squaring the bonus points would do?[/quote 5 bonus points would give you 25 random numbers where 3 would give you 9 random numbers in the draw so although only 2 points difference now would get bigger and bigger the more points you have, if that makes sense

In the bonus pass and the 1-2 pass the computer looks at your first choice if you have a low enough random number you get a tag if your first choice is full they automatically look at your second choice if there are tags still left you get one if not you go back to the draw for the second pass where you are reissued a new random number and they do the whole thing again. Yes, I understand that's how it was explained on the video but I thought 20% bonus pass was per hunt number, is that not the case? Yes it's per a hunt number unless there aren't enough tags to make 20%, also doesn't apply to bighorn sheep and possibly buffalo. Someone could sneak in a higher demand hunt on their second choice as long as they made the bonus pass on first choice? I could be wrong but I believe the computer looks at both your 1st and 2nd choices to make sure you have enough points to get in the 20% pass for both hunts.

$50,000 reward for arrest and conviction with over 36 wolves shot..... come on.. nobody has that good of friends. The first time they try and convict somebody a DNA test will be demanded and that will be the end of the hybrid program. Your saying that 36 wolves have been shot and not one conviction yet? On March 6th and 8th 2000,James Rodgers from Eager, Az. and a juvenile were charged with the killing of a wolf pretty sure james was convicted but I can't find the punishment.

LOL. I read the hatcheries release into the creek. There are 3 hatcheries on Oak Creek, 2 are operated by the AZGFD and one is private. The private place is called the Trout Farm and you pay to fish their ponds, used to be a 2 fish minimum and payed by the inch. Page Springs Fish hatchery stocks about 40,000 rainbows a year into Oak Creek, Cave Springs campground gets a fair amount every time the creek is stocked.

The last time I was summoned for jury duty I also had a hunt, I just called the number on card and told them I had a vacation scheduled, they excused me and said my name would get back into the pool.

You wouldn't think there would be that many, 11:59 was the cut off and they started hitting cards like 7 hours later,how many cards could have gone bad in that amount of time. Unless people just didn't bother to update because people know they will get a call regardless if they updated their card or not

The AZGFD web page has a progress report on current draw, says draw is broken down into 5 phases the bar shows application processing 20%, hopefully it means 20% of total draw is complete and not just 20% of the application processing.
