Unit 23 October Coues Hunt

Hey everyone! Been a long time since I've been on the board. Will try to visit more often!

I'm relatively familiar with the north side of unit 23, but not so much on the south end. 

This is my first Coues hunt in the unit. Would prefer to hunt in the north if there are decent numbers of mature bucks.

I have a few spots to checkout in the south. Any additional tips on spots to scout would be greatly appreciated. 

I understand the country is rough in the south, especially in and near the wilderness area but I'm willing to glass and scout the areas where the bruisers live!

The south is much easier to glass. It really depends on your style. Good bucks killed on both ends of the unit. I would not classify any part of the unit as "better" for mature bucks.

I haven't seen coues in the north. Where should I start scouting?

Just scout the south. It’s Conducive to rifle hunting

Look for the yellow grass hillsides as far from roads as possible early in the am.  Be very patient.
