MULEPACKHUNTER Report post Posted January 28 Talked to federal engineer (not salesman) at Shot as well as RCBS and Seekins rifles. Very interesting, rcbs will have dies soon (neck size ) and Seekins is swapping their entire rifle line over to new design bolt and action for these types of cartridges. The new Seekins is really cool 3 lug 60 degree throw. Easy barrel swap design. I believe tool less takedown on bolt. the cases don’t show movement in the body after firing so neck size is all that’s needed. (No data on case life) round prefers a 5 groove bore at 1:8 Less powder is expected to equate to decent barrel life ammo is now available ( recieved 20 boxes 175 terminal)msrp 59.99 Even more fun, 338 ARC

Also the primers are pushed way out of the primer pockets. All that pressure has to go somewhere and I will bet the bolts dont last long. Just think if you get a rifle that isnt head spaced tightly. Saw this also. Yesterday I watched a video from Federal, case will be reloadable with special dies and an extra step to bell case mouth. Some articles were talking about these cases in standard cartridges, like 30-06. I don’t think it will happen due to too many rifles out there that were made prior to “modern steel”. I’m not on board yet. I don’t have a 20 inch barrel hunting rifle, factory ammo is not very good and I don’t plan on replacing 20 or so die sets.
USABAKER Report post Posted April 29 It's been a struggle! Some years ago, I picked up an Interarms Mark X in 30-06 with the intention of rebarrling to a .270 Win. Mechanically, the rifle is rock solid, and I suppose if I wanted yet another 30-06, I'd just clean her up. The bluing has worn through the years, a type of wear commonly seen on saddle scabbards. Anyhow, ever since the 7mm Backcountry was released, good data on it started seeping into the Inter-regions. More than once, I have had the McGowen Percussion Barrels website open and the form filled out to send this Interarms Mark X to be rebarreled in 7mm BC, yet, I haven't pulled the trigger... Yet... It's been a struggle.. I want it; I mean who wouldn't 20" barrel - 3150 FPS - 168 LRX / 170 Ascent - ahhh the possibilities. But without reloading dies, I stall. - IF- and -When- dies for this hit the market, it would be the tipping point for sure, maybe even a firm assurance the dies are coming would do it. The temptation is real, my friends... Real as it gets...
