Crossbow permit repeal

Recommended Posts

When I need it I’ll mentor archery hunts for those that need it to get my fix and rifle hunt for meat. If I get 50-60 years in archery hunting with a bow, I’ll call it a win and pass it on before I pick up the above mentioned. That’s just me though.
The other things you mentioned, to me, are essential - archery hunting is not.

just an opinion

and no problem with crossbows properly regulated and those that actually need it. My experience with those in the field now are similar to those getting out of lifted trucks in handicapped spot walking into Home Depot.

tighten it up, get rid of air, get rid of any old Dr signature and  make it year by year and I’ll support it because you sure can’t rely on morals. All about those horns.

And I read that you prostaff for Savage,  so at least budget mentor anyway

If you could read - I was speaking about mentoring for archery hunts when I couldn’t shoot a bow anymore vs using air or whatever you use and obviously can’t have a difference of opinion or discussion- you have to be a girl and pull hair. - you go girl - good one.

Sorry to hurt your feeling.  Not really.  Low budget mentors are needed. You are Savage.

I hope you get your 50yrs, some of us didn't and didn't abuse the old system.  Yet still we get painted by others as cheaters, cowards,  ect.  Some of us went into the military as able bodied and are now unable to pull and hold a bow.

Thank you for your future low budget mentorship.

And as stated - properly regulated for those in need - I’m all in. The current system has allowed the abuse causing this whole issue. Be mad at the abusers and root for it to be cleaned up so you and others that deserve it can have it.  Thanks for your service and hard work defending all of us.

You mean if you can’t shoot a bow, you won’t be able to archery hunt? What a crazy world.

I read a different tone in this response.

My problem with the way this whole thing unfolded is it was based on unsubstantiated allegations and anecdotal accounts of fraud, technological advancement restrictions only applyed unilaterally, initiated by biased groups trying to protect a doomed OTC deer hunt, targeting a group of people who already have many personal challenges.

Are there people who cheated the system? Probably.  Does it need to be reworked? Sure.

Had it been worded as simply as the following, in my opinion the division in groups and anger by those who feel attacked would have been much less.

The current Crossbow and CHAMP permit programs have become unmanageable in their current form and the Commission is proposing a purge and restart with new requirements. Public comment period is from .. to .. .  (Given facts, purposed new requirements and restrictions on equipment)

My guess is, the officers have seen the same thing I have.. perfectly healthy and able bodied people and 10-14 year old healthy kids using crossbows and airbows because the system allowed them get around the intent of rule easily (I won't even speculate what some of the less reputable outfitters are doing - just going off of my observations) I'm guessing the commission jumped on what they did to start a campaign to get it changed without calling out the fact that all the dbags that abused it are ruining it for those that need it.

Get rid of the Air, keep the xbow and manage it much much more stringently and I'm a supporter.

As far as your hair pulling - my $1000 proof research barreled, 5.5lb savage UL rifles all shoot 3/8-1/2" with factory ammo and track out to 700 (as far as I have shot them to date and of course as much about the glass as rifle). I don't know what spending another $1000 or more would do for me personally but I guess I'll settle with that performance.  I haven't felt the need to pull another rifle out of the safe in many years since these perform so well but Lot's of great choices out there and good on you for whatever you are enjoying.
