I would sit on water until it was very dark and get there at dark in the morning. After the sun came up I would walk the water just to find green droppings. It sucked. My rookie observation is most elk are smart enough to know that drinking in daylight is dangerous. Sitting water, IMHRO, is you're hoping for a really thirsty, or clueless, elk. It was hot so I would sit water hoping and walk around or glass for them during the day. It was my first archery hunt so there were a ton of mistakes I am positive.
Adicted Report post Posted yesterday at 03:55 AM Well guys it’s over. Had one chance when I missed. Worst rut I ever been one. 1 bugle in last 6 days. Was all glass and spot and stalk. Thx for following. But just didn’t happen. 4
