mattnduke Report post Posted yesterday at 05:22 PM Anyone who had the first Coues hunt in 23 willing to share info? I’ve got the second hunt starting 11/7 and have spent a few days scouting normal spots and am somehow coming up empty. Spent the entire day yesterday north of Roosevelt and didn’t see a single deer, which is pretty hard to do. It was definitely hot, but figured I’d catch something first or last light. Did the typical glass until your eyes fall out. Hiked the fingers mid day looking for sign. Every tank I came across was completely full of water with no track or sign. Obviously a good amount of water with all these recent rains, so I’m sure they’re spread out. Trying to game plan where I’m going to go Friday. Feel free DM if you prefer to keep conversation private.
wildwoody Report post Posted yesterday at 05:46 PM Look on the tops and saddles. They don't need to goto water, hunt the Chamberlin trail down by fish creek. Glass glass glass.

Glass glass glass. That’s a good thought. It’s been a while since I’ve spent time around Haigler. When I put it for this tag, that’s the area I figured I would scout in. But for whatever reason I changed my mind and spent the few days I’ve had north of Roosevelt. I used to bow hunt on the trail system with all the tanks near Haigler. Is Fish Creek that little pull out right before it gets steep on the sketchy part going down to Hagler? It sounds familiar but I don’t know where it’s at. wildwoody Report post Posted yesterday at 07:24 PM It's the point above Hagler creek with a pull out and a sign and I believe a little guard rail to park at. Walk out to where you can see down and across, also glass down along the road, also back up above the road in the rocks. Big bucks run in there. But you have to glass hard and may have a 500ytd shout. They like to come down the hill on the other side of the river. You'll be looking straight at it. Or the back side of Christopher Mnt but that's too hard to explain. Good luck
AZbowhntr Report post Posted 20 hours ago There are deer north of Roosevelt. I have a friend that had the early tags and hunted north of the lake below Armor Mountain and were in deer everyday. I didn't hear how they ended up doing but I know they saw bucks.
