PRDATR Report post Posted Thursday at 10:40 PM Is it even worth chasing a Bull tag with 5 Points? Not interested in Muzzleloader. I'm fine just getting out so maybe a Cow tag for the meat as I'm down to my last steak or two.
AZCoueser Report post Posted Thursday at 11:25 PM Yes, it is. Just don’t go for one of the super competitive units like unit 10 which in 2024 had 40 permits and almost 6,000 first choice applicants for the early hunt. Odds are better for the late hunts. Crazymonkey Report post Posted yesterday at 12:19 AM Been drawn with less points . If your after meat for the freezer a cow hunt is probably your best shot .Got drawn general hunt cow in 6a 2014, then muzzleloader bull 6a the next year then general cow again. Just loyalty and hunter safety points. Muzzleloader is averaging about 3-5 points and general cow we pulled with a 6 point average and had early tag numbers last year. AZ513 Report post Posted yesterday at 02:20 AM Not sure if you're looking for an early or late hunt, but if you're interested you have pretty solid odds at a late rifle hunt.
Flatlander Report post Posted 15 hours ago Yes, always worth applying. 80% of the tags are issued randomly to people with less than max. Five is enough to put you close to the bonus for some hunts. Here is my suggestion; pick a dream hunt for your first choice and apply because there is almost always a chance. For your second choice, pick a late hunt in a less popular unit that you are comfortable with OR look for a limited opp hunt with a higher success rate (some of those are actually pretty decent) in unit you would enjoy hunting.
