n2horns Report post Posted March 3 My Xtratuf boots kinda are getting old and was out looking for something new. I went from Xtratuf to Grundens 12 inch boots. I will say the Grundens are way more comfortable and feels to be more grippy on the soles. I also now use these inserts and love them, from Amazon. Does have a wider toe box than the Xtuf. The below pelagic have a bit more. I did try the pelagic12 inch boots on sale at amazon for like $45.00, hated them, heavy, thick, they did have a wider toe box, was a plus. I had a hard time getting in and out of the boot. Keeping the Grundes!!!!!
PRDATR Report post Posted March 3 I have the same Grundens but the lower ones that just cover the ankle. Love them. I bought them in 2019 and used them on a five day in Mexico and lived in them and then three days in Westport where I just wore them each day which was 10-12 hours each trip. I wear sock's so I have some cushion since once the action starts you're standing for hours at a time.
n2horns Report post Posted March 4 I wear darn tough thin wool socks, wore the white tubes long ago and ran into my feet stuck like my ahole. Cleaned up my act and no issues with the wool now. If I am doing longer trips, will bring 2 pairs of socks and at night I take the insoles out and let them air out too. Lots of ways to skin a fish.

I wear the thick Smart Wool socks for extra cushion and wear them almost every day when I wear work boots. Toss them all once a year and buy six new pairs at REI. catclaw Report post Posted March 4 I still have two pair of Xtratuffs. I hunt in them if it's wet. I have custom insoles which helps. Too hot for Arizona weather, however
UncleMark Report post Posted Sunday at 02:02 PM Hey, I'm in same boat so to speak. I have a San Diego trip end of the month and need to replace my Xtratuf boots. Tuffs have a boot heal design, where the Grundens are a flat sole, tennis shoe design. How is the arch support on those? And is the toe box wider on Grundens as well? They look like very thick rubber; still easy tofold down? Thanks. Mark.
SWDesertRat Report post Posted Sunday at 02:47 PM Arizona based Marsupial Gear partnered with LaCrosse for an ankle high deck boot. Comfortable as heck, it’s also become a favorite camp boot, no need to worry about mud or dust and easy slip on and off. https://www.marsupialgear.com/products/alpha-deck-boot?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=alpha_deck_boot_pmax&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=22265741030&gbraid=0AAAAACeAWSFcbAB1rbQ2NcV_Zb8LAMpvj&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIqZ_U_cSQkwMVpiZECB158QAWEAAYASAAEgLDDvD_BwE
