Evan Report post Posted May 13 I have fished out of Sitka, AK with Big Blue Charters foe the last eight summers, August is the best for both silver and king salmon, also fish for ling, halibut, yellow eye and rock fish. 5nRamirez Report post Posted May 17 Book well in advance 8 months+ fly into Anchorage and rent a car drive down to soldotna for the Sockeye run late july/early aug.. this is considered "combat" fishing but is addicting. 5nRamirez Report post Posted June 26 Yeah most affordable hotels close to any of the actual fishing are booked months in advance. Im sure you could always find a cancelation or something but even plane tickets are $3-500 cheaper in January compared to now same with rental vehicles.. it can get pretty overwhelming doing stuff last minute 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
