Setup a camp and never run into another hunter for a week. Leave an hour before it got light and get back two hours after o'dark thirty. Six hours of sleep worked and a boloney/cheese sandwich and a few power bars was all you needed. Tasco Scope and no binoculars on a tripod. Amazing we ever killed anything. Five miles a day was the norm. Quads and weekend warriors tearing up the country side were non existant. A lot fewer people here in AZ back then, heck you could get two buck tags in 29 and there were 1000 tags for the late hunt. You could buy 5 acres in AJ for $25K.

AZbowhntr Report post Posted 5 hours ago That's too funny. Somewhere I have a big popcorn tin that is full of them. Then I started printing maps off the internet and taping them together at the seams to make by own. Pass them down to your great great grand kids and they may be worth something someday.
Sam Report post Posted 3 hours ago We explored most of AZ with paper maps, way before the internet and GPS became a thing. Not to mention all of the hand drawn maps we passed on with estimated milage and land marks used as key places telling us when to turn or camp.
geologger Report post Posted 2 hours ago I still much prefer paper maps. I know, I know... I feel old just typing that. Keep your Grandpa jokes to yourself 🤨 lol
