Prickly Pears are ripe!

Recommended Posts

Attached is a "how to" document. When we went out the other day we used some desert broom branches to brush off the pears before we picked them. Gets a lot of the spines off before you even pick them. Desert broom is that green low shrub found in the desert which makes a great hand broom.

When will the Margarita's be ready?

+1 :P

WoooooHooooo Count me in!

sounds like I need to make Ppear margaritas at some sort of CW.com gathering! YUM!

Also, my husband makes some outstanding bbq sauce with the ppear juice. He boils down the juice to make a thicker sort of glaze and then mixes in some store bought bbq sauce and jazzes it up with lots of spices and it's wonderful!

Try making "goatsup", it is Shoshone pudding my Grandma and Aunt's used to make. Thicken the boiling juice with a little flour and add sugar to make sweet - if necessary, depended on the berries. Like gravy the juice will thicken as it cools. We used to put it on pancakes, or my favorite was Goose Berry goatsup still warm on Vanilla ice cream.
