First Squirrel with a bow

Recommended Posts

I took my son up to Unit one to scout for his upcoming youth hunt and camped out with some friends that were trying to fill their archery bull tags. We took Kolin's bow with him just to get some practice in and have something to do in the middle of the day when the elk were bedded down. One of the guys mentioned that it was archery squirrel season and the guys proceeded to educate him about the use of judo points for small game hunting. They even loaned him some a judo point and a blunt. After a little practice on the target blocks, the hunt was on when ever one of the little rascals came down a tree anywhere near camp. After many misses, each getting closer and closer to the target, he finally scored with a perfect head shot at about 10 yards. This was not only his first squirrel, but his first game harvested with a bow.

Happy hunter
