Almost quail time

So,

 

I keep hearing that the place to be for quail is up north of roosevelt lake. Well it just so happens that we got drawn for mule deer in 23, which is also just north of the lake.

 

Planning a camping/scouting/quail trip for next weekend. Any body have any luck up that way? any ideas where to start?

I ran into a bunch of Gambels when hunting javelina NE of the lake a few years ago, but the amount of cholla would not be dog friendly.

 

I plan on giving it a try in the mornings this opening weekend down by Sedona.
