Saguaro Report post Posted July 26, 2014 Does anyone out there reload for the 280 Ack. and use the 145 grn LRX bullet? It seems like it should be a real good bullet. I have a 26" number 2 barrel if that makes a difference. I have plenty of 4831 and IMR 4350, but I'm open to other powders. Just looking for suggestions and a little advise on where to do some research. If not the 145 grn, what are your best loads for the 140 or 150 grn? Thanks for the help. 1uglydude Report post Posted July 26, 2014 I shoot the 129gr LRX in my 270 wsm. Amazing accuracy and flawless performance on two elk. I'm sure the 7mm version will do just as well.
sjvcon Report post Posted July 27, 2014 129 Grains on Elk? Was that Cow or Bull? I'd think that would be a little light, but Barnes does make a heck of a bullet!!!
1uglydude Report post Posted July 27, 2014 One cow and one bull. 200 yards and 350 yards, respectfully. Both shots were high shoulder. Pushed through bone on both sides and exited and neither took another step. They're leaving the muzzle at 3350 fps, so they had a lot of energy to begin with. That being said, elk aren't made of steel.
