I work at the Home Depot in Flagstaff. We were lowering the flag half mast for Nancy Reagan. This is an actual conversation at work.

 

Cashier: "Who are we lowering the flag for?"

My immediate Manager: "Nancy Reagan, she passed away this week."

Cashier (with dead seriousness in her voice): "Who is that? A former employee?"

 

My manager and I stood with blank stares speechless. This is what happens when you don't teach history in class.....

This is what happens when you don't fund education. The problem runs far deeper than teaching history. This is about politicians and citizens being so short sighted. Raising idiots is ok if were saving a buck, right?!!!!

Think about this. Rand Paul, ran as a strict, as it is written, Constitutionalist, conservative could not last past Iowa. Bernie Sanders, an admitted socialist has won the vote in several states. That is fricken disgusting and frightening.

Socialist or not Bernie Sanders wants to fund and expand education. Don't agree with all his policies (but then again i don't agree with all of the republican platform either) but definitely agree with creating a smarter society. That starts with taking the time and money to educate our citizens.

I help out w/ one of our local scout troops and I've noticed the parents are the number 1 main factor here no doubt. The scouts who have parents that make them do chores and take them outdoors are heads and shoulders above the ones whose parents just let them play video games all day. When we go on backpacking or fishing trips, the kids that never go outside literally can't make their own food or tie on their own lure, while the others who have more active parents are able to have a good time and do their own thing. They are better at resolving problems. Kids aren't just born lazy/stupid/entitled pieces of crap... well maybe a few. It's mostly developed over years of no responsibility and never having set goals and working toward something worthwhile. jmo. Then again, I guess I am considered by definition a "millennial" and I'm blinded by my own stupidity and we really are the scum of the earth.

I'm surprised, being only 21-years-old, how many of my friends asked the same exact thing. Up here attending NAU in Flag, I understand where you're coming from. By the way, I've probably seen you at Home Depot, usually head there once every 2 weeks for write in the rain gear and general nitpicks.

I'm at the one behind the Mall... I am currently the service desk supervisor...
