Scat identification

Recommended Posts

Was out today trying to locate some bobcat sign but it seemed like I was finding too much so I thought maybe I've been wrong with what I thought was bobcat scat. Trying to get some feedback.

Yup. Cat. Segmented, blunt ends, lacking berries or seeds. Mostly meat diet make them start pretty green, oxidize to black and bleach out white fairly quickly. Top track is no question cat. Bottom tracks a little harder to tell. The heal pad is the easiest way to tell a cat track and it not very clear in the picture if it has two or three lobes but the track lacks nail marks in fairly deep mud which makes me think it's a cat. The track also appears wider than it is tall and also it looks like the second toe on both tracks is a little farther forward, kind of like our index finger, which would imply cat.
