So if the unit is before the muzzle how does it see the bullet? Do you mean move the unit further from the muzzle, like 10' away?

The unit is triggered by sound. When I'm shooting low noise guns like my 22 hornet I put the unit 3-4 inches to the right of the barrel and the muzzle extends 2-3 inches past the unit. With a brake I will put it 4-6 inches to the right but have the barrel 6-12 inches past the unit depending on the brake.
