Just got a photo of a supposed 190" nontypical coues killed in a southern AZ unit. the picture is just of its head, no hunter in it. sure looks like a coues and sure looks HUGE to me. It will be interesting to see if this is legit or not. anyone else seen this?

it's teeth are showing, has white crust around it's nose, nose and lips are pushed back against the ground. i am pretty positive it is not a mount -
looks like a decent bear. 200 lbs or so is my guess. i'm leaning very heavily towards sow.long, pointy nose, no shoulder hump, not real muscular front end. looks like it has a great coat though

high end, high HP grinders will power through about anything, and most of the sinew you miss will get caught in the grinder head. some big, old, tough animals need to be ground a couple of times. for most animals, we usually run it through coarse, then run it through fine. i have never ground up a javelina. I have cooked them and had to throw away pots, pans etc. because the javelina smell would not come out of them. i have been afraid that the smell would stick to the grinder

I heard that AZGFD.gov, under the hunt unit description, is a great resource for pointing people in the right direction. If i were new to hunting, this would probably be my first place to look. I have also heard that there are unit maps on the website that show what part of the state the units are in?

270 is more than enough for cow elk. would not hesitate shooting any big game in arizona with a 130grn 270 bullet, even through the shoulder. keep your shot within your comfort zone and have fun. i recently switched from a long range custom rifle back to a featherweight 270, because i got tired of packing that heavy rifle. now i have a $3500 paper weight that sits in the safe. shot a muley last year that wasn't much smaller than a cow elk at about 300 yards. did not know what hit him. i am comfortable out to about 600 yards with it, and would not hesitate shooting anything

longrangehunting.com should have plenty of info on that subject

am i missing the cat? nevermind i see it now. sucker blends in

soak them in water for a week or two before you boil them. cuts boiling waaaaay down. dont have to scrape and scrub near as much meat off. gets pretty smelly, but i would rather deal with stink than 10 hours of boiling.
