    SOLD: Franchi 20 Gauge Shotgun

I got this Franchi 48AL a little over a year ago for a lightweight quail gun, but quickly found it isn't suitable for me because I shoot lefty and it ejects shells into my face. I've only put 3 boxes or so of shells through it. Shoots very well. Points quickly. It has a 26" barrel with a fixed modified choke. This gun is extremely lightweight. It weighs approximately 5.6 lbs unloaded, and about 6 lbs loaded with high brass #7.5. It's very handy for hiking around the uplands all day chasing quail. Asking $550 OBO, willing to drive as far as Payson, Camp Verde, Prescott, or Ash Fork. Maybe farther depending on circumstances. Possible trades for an O&U 20 gauge or 28 gauge, mid-tier AR-15 like a BCM + cash (from me), a nice .22 bolt action, or a mid-tier scope + cash. Make me an offer. Worst I can say is no, lol.
  2. I have a Garmin Delta Upland dog training collar and beeper for sale. I bought this brand new last year. It has been used in the field one time and at a training facility half a dozen times. This system comes complete with hanheld unit, collar, beeper, and charger. This unit is is great shape and functions flawlessly. I am selling to fund a project plus I just had shoulder surgery so I wont be bird hunting in the near future. I am asking $175 for this unit.Give me a shout 1-505-980-6747. This unit is also expanable with more collars.
  3. Meeting a friend from NM this weekend around the halfway mark to put the AZ bird season to bed. That puts us in the Willcox area so we are planning to search the nearby mountain ranges (Dragoons and Chiris) with a focus on finding some mearns and then chasing scalies after we get too tired and frustrated to keep looking. Neither of us have ever been in these areas, so we are just going in with a map, fresh legs, good boots and hoping for the best. I'll have my shorthair so I'm hoping we can put some scent in his nose before the long snakey months before he'll be able to get after anything again. Anyone have experience or success in these areas that wouldn't mind sharing some general locations to try? A decent access road, or anything would be very much appreciated. PM's welcome too. Thanks and good luck to anyone else going out for the last time this weekend!
  4. I have 3 New in Box E-collars for the training of dogs. 1. Tri-Tronics Sport Upland G3 (NIB) - $250 2. Tri-Tronics Sport Basic G3 (NIB) - $150 3. Tri-Tronics Sport Junior G3 (NIB) - $100 These units retailed for between $199 and $400 and were given to me. I no longer have English Pointers and therefore I have no use for them.

    Old calls

So my dad passed away 11 years ago and I was thinking about his old elk call and I wondered if my mom still had it stored some where. I had the chance to look for it yesterday and found a box with these two elk calls and a varmint, quail and a wooden turkey call. I remember blowing on these things about 40 years ago and scratching on the turkey call. They are now going in my man cave and they bring back some great memories. Anyone recognize or remember these old calls?
  6. I am going to try to hunt quail this season but don't have a hunting dog. What are my chances? I've heard of quail calls to calm them down when approaching them, but do they work and which ones are best. I will be around the Whetstone and Huachuca mountain areas. Thanks.
  7. OK all you Coues WT hunters: how about giving up the goods on all the mearns quail you saw on your hunts? Numbers up? Covey sizes? Locations? ANYTHING?

  9. With bird season well under way it is time to get the Southern Arizona Quail Forever meetings started. However, we are switching things up a little bit and having our first meeting in Tucson. We've decided to try different locations this year starting with this meeting. This meeting will be at Buddy's Grill on the east side of Houghton RD South of Valencia (address and website below). We will still meet at 6:30 pm for a drink and to shoot the breeze followed by the actual meeting at 7:00 pm. We will have our own room with wait staff; so, meet there and order any food or drink you need from the meeting room. The agenda is a little loose with a review of some happenings from last year and a plan of events for this year. We are trying to arrange for someone from the AZGFD to answer questions about some the changes that are taking place. Looking forward to seeing everyone and getting another great year under way! S AZ Quail Forever Meeting Th 11-14-2013 7:00 pm Buddy's Grill 7385 S Houghton Rd Tucson, AZ 85747
