Tucson Equestrian Trading Post, which is pretty close, has a black one advertised for $179.  Catalina Pawn has a Rascal for $195, which is a much nicer gun.

Check out the Rascal if want - has some definite advantages

I'll second this, unless you're really dead set on a Crickett.  We got our daughter a very pretty, expensive Crickett when she was 6 or 7 years old.  I didn't do enough research or asking around. I was just excited to get her her first rifle.  It didn't take long to realize there were better options out there.  I highly recommend looking at the Rascal.

4ths on the rascal. You have to manually cock the firing pin on the cricket 👎. I bought my daughter the rascal target model for her 8th birthday, put a cheap vortex scope, a cheek riser and a suppressor on it. It’s a tac driver with federal gold medal. Action and the trigger are great for such a cheap rifle. I find myself laughing when I shoot it.

Do you know how often we all agree on something?  NOT OFTEN.  :D  Must mean something.  Benson is the hard part -- you gotta come into town for shopping once in a while!  I have never been to the equestrian trading post but one of these days ...

Definitely check Murphy's in Tucson.  They were always good to me when we lived in Tucson and have been good to me when I've gone in powder shopping while visiting our daughter at UofA.

And I forgot we have Rascals for the small kids in Hunter Ed up here in Flagstaff.  We had a couple of Crickets (might still), but I never reach for them and make sure we're grabbing the Rascals.

Yup. Over sized controls (for a micro) and feed ramp, real safe, real trigger and cock with bolt.  Plus they shoot lights out. Easy to add scope and lots of options for stock, color etc.  By far best micro out there.

I just made this decision a few weeks ago after seeing the small colorful Rascals at Scheel. Savage sells the Target XP variant that comes with a cheap scope, bipod, and more importantly, a threaded barrel for under $400 (got mine for $372 shipped at guns2u.com).
