Draw question, NR with a lifetime license

My son has a job based in Murfreesboro and travels a lot. He lives with us until their house in Wickenburg sells. When we move we are trying to stay at least an hour away from Memphis. We've driven thru McKenzie, Huntingdon, Dover, Paris, Waverly, etc. Wife has to have great internet wherever we move to. Did you go to UT- Martin or Austin Peay? Or? I also like Murray KY, it's a college town that has most things.

Undergrad at UT-Martin and grew up hunting family farm nearby so that was nice. Grad school at UT-Memphis. I haven’t been through Murray in years but it was a nice place years ago. I’ve been through all those towns over the years…all have their pluses and minuses. LoL

Just throwing it out there that when a non resident applies with a resident (in this case your son is treated as a resident for cap purposes) it does NOT suck the resident into the non resident cap. There simply must be enough tags to give to both. If there is one non res tag available as well as a resident tag available when their app is pulled it will give them tags.

Same thing with a non resident with a lifetime license applying with a non res without a lifetime license. The lifetime license guys is treated as a resident for cap purposes but pays non resident prices for the tag if drawn. The only thing that combines in either scenario is their bonus points averaging.

Not that helps your odds much but figured I would clear up some confusion from prior posts.

Thanks for that explanation. Probably semantics, but the end result seems to basically be the same? If the app is pulled and the NR cap has been met (no NR tag available) then neither gets a tag…right?

Correct. Only time it would ever matter is if by chance a res and nr tag were available. Which isn't likely, but not impossible.

For all you guys considering moving some place else.  All I know is that the grass is not greener on the other side.  I moved to Texas for 2 years in the late 80's after graduating college and NM for 1 year in the 90's.  Always came back to good ol' AZ.  You don't realize how much you take what we have for granted until you leave.  The weather, PUBLIC LAND, geo diversity, variety of hunting opportunities and family all kept pulling me back.  If you want to hunt someplace else its much easier to just go as a NR.  My 2 cents.

I am sure a lot of this is true Knothead, but the WEATHER????  There are a lot of things I would miss, but I would NEVER miss 100+ for 6+ months out of the year.  I always tell people, I can put more clothes on, but there are only so many I can take off.  Also wouldn't miss the traffic.

Yes Weather!!!  Sure its hot here but at least we can drive 2-3 hours and be out of it.  I have lived in other states where you couldn't plan anything more than a couple of days in advance because of weather.  Huge weather changes in a matter of a day or two.  It sucks, scraping windows for ice every morning.  When I lived in Dallas, I left my truck in 4-high for 3 weeks because of the black ice.  I'll take hot weather any day over cold.  There is reason why AZ has so many transplants here and its not because of our sports teams.   If AZ's summers were more mild then we would have 15 million people living here.  Those 115 degree days are what keep the faint of heart away.  I love it when we make national news for our heat.  Bring it on!!
