Outdoor Writer Report post Posted September 25, 2012 Sandhills are neat birds and probably the noisest of any. When I hunted moose and mountain caribou in northern BC many years ago, it was migration time. Several times a day, we had flocks of hundreds of them fly overhead. You could hear them coming 10 minutes before you saw them. A couple of flocks landed on nearby hills to eat the caribou moss and spend the night, and it was impossible to count them all.
