Great weekend in the white mountains

Come on Guy . You gotta be smarter than that. Even on My own land if I cheated I wouldn't post it ............BOB!

Forest Ranger came by last year and tried to give me a ticket for having a fire... Well a few months later the judge threw it out. So I guess they don't bother coming by anymore.

That's a fantastic philosophy to live by.

Casey, I fought for my personal and private property rights. I got a lawyer and fought and paid 10 times what the ticket would have cost. The government is not going to tread on me while I stand by and watch. The philosophy I live by, is Don't Tread On Me! After I won my court case, many of my neighbors also decided to stand up and fight for their rights and also won.

You set fire to your personal property, fine by me... But burning down the forest because you wanted a fire, NOT cool.... it can happen to anyone no matter how safe you are. I doubt the brothers who set the wallow fire I believe imagined their fire would get out of hand.

I definitely see your point, but I guess I just take a different stance on this particular subject.

I was up there camped east of Greens Peak (just outside the closed area on road 1325) from Thursday to Sunday. Couldn't see any smoke from the fire. It rained every day we were there, almost all day on Saturday. We got stuck in some heavy rain and hail around Pole Knoll on Friday and had to find shelter.

In other good news. The fire restrictions are being down graded from Stage 2 to Stage 1 tomorrow morning!

After two days of rain ( probably 2" or more) you couldn't of started a fire if you wanted to. We brought dry wood from town. And from the looks of it, no one set the forest on fire this weekend... Thanks for comparing me to the guys who set the wallow fire... Real classy.

They can't make exceptions to anyone even of it does pour rain. As long as there are fire restrictions it is illegal to start a fire ANYWHERE. Noone is treading on anyone. It's a safety precaution to be safe. It's not your place to decide if it's safe enough or not to start a fire. That would be like saying game and fish can't stop me from shooting all the elk that walk on my property because it's my property. It might not hurt others but it's still the law no matter where you are.

Guys, 520Hunt posted a thread about what a great weekend he had up North this past weekend while camping with his family. That's it! Why is it that people feel as though they can pass judgement on him for doing so? Looks like maybe he had a fire on some private land, why is that any of our business? Its over and done with, he did not burn down a forest nor did he even come close to doing so. Enjoy his post without looking for something to start an argument over PLEASE??!!! This is happening on this site with more and more frequency. Like the Good Lord said " let him who has no sin cast the first stone"...save all of the negativity for the next anti you come across.

You must not live up north . . At first I was simply saying to be careful about getting caught because I agree he couldn't have started a fire if he wanted to but the rules are still rules. Then when he responded saying he could basically do whatever he wanted on his own private land because he isn't gonna let anyone tread on him and all that that's when I changed my mind about simply telling him to be careful about getting caught. Just because you own some land doesn't mean laws don't apply to you is my point.
